Thelma, originally from Essex in England, has been a tireless worker for the 'Save the Children Fund', the 'Spastic Centre of NSW' and the 'Safety House Scheme', a program designed to protect children mainly when in transit to and from school.

Thelma was also the Event Secretary of Australia's Premier Off Road Race (formerly the Bridgestone International) for twelve years, retiring in March 1999. Thelma's submission to the 1993 NSW Tourism Awards for Excellence earned the event an Award of Distinction and her efficiency and organisational abilities were a major influence in building the event up to a world class standard.

Whilst still working for the 'Save The Children Fund' and the 'Safety House Scheme', Thelma is concentrating mainly on the Spastic Centre of NSW. She producers a newsletter for the Spastic Centre Country Councils with input from the various Councils and including news and updates on facilities and treatment at the Spastic Centre.

Thelma is the Secretary/Treasurer of the Kempsey Country Council and along with the President, Margaret Meier, they visit service clubs, organisations and schools along the Mid North Coast of NSW as guest speakers on behalf of the Spastic Centre

They aim to try and improve public awareness of the difficulties people with Cerebral Palsy face and endeavour to ensure their lives are made much easier and more dignified and not a constant fight to attain the courtesy and respect able bodied people take for granted.
